A Recap of the 2024 National Specialty in Charlotte, NC
The beautiful Sonesta Executive Park Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina served as a magnificent venue for the 2024 SCOA National & Parent Club Specialties, in collaboration with the 2024 BICA National & Parent Club Specialties.
This event was the result of 18 months of meticulous planning and hard work, creating a week filled with endless activities and entertainment for dog enthusiasts at every level. The spacious rooms, excellent gathering areas, and a vast indoor ballroom warmly welcomed all participants to this extraordinary event.
Throughout the week, attendees were treated to a wide array of exhilarating activities such as the luau-themed Top 20/NOHS Top 20, the Welcome Party, the innovative Dog-U activity center, the Costume Contest, the Parade of Veterans, the Spinoni Olympics and CGC & Trick Dog evaluations. The event was jam-packed with fun activities, including informative seminars, health screenings, the annual meeting, wonderful vendors, and so much more.
The schedule was truly action-packed, featuring NAVHDA & AKC Hunt Tests, National and Parent Club Conformation, Puppy & Veteran Sweeps, Gun Dog Sweeps as well as exciting PeeWee and Junior showmanship events.
Planning and executing a National Specialty is a monumental task, akin to coordinating seven individual wedding days in a row. Despite the inevitable challenges, the event was a tremendous success. However, we also faced disappointment when the Rally & Obedience events had to be canceled. Nonetheless, the overwhelming understanding and support from club members underscored the remarkable character and kindness within our community.
The week wrapped up with a memorable Chuk-A-Duck 50/50, a delightful cocktail party reception, a sumptuous dinner, and an electrifying silent auction/raffle.
We shared a lovely, heartfelt tribute to our Spinoni and Bracci who journeyed over the Rainbow Bridge.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and participants who made this event exceptional. None of this would have been possible without the dedicated volunteers, and we express our deepest gratitude to every individual who contributed to the success of this event.
